Baseball's Final Week of Regular Season Sees Four SUN Contests

LAKELAND, Fla.- The top team in the country, Southeastern University, will look to end their regular season by adding wins to their 43-3 overall record and 18-2 conference record with four SUN contests this week.
 
SEU will complete the SUN series against Webber International on Monday at 6 p.m. as they make up game three that was postponed due to weather earlier in the season.
 
The contest against No. 13 Webber International will continue where it left off on April 2^nd with a score of 2-2 in the bottom of the second. The Fire took both earlier games of the series from the Warriors by scores of 8-3 and 7-2.
 
The Fire will then take on Sun Conference opponent Ave Maria University at home this weekend for the final series of the 2022 regular season after clinching the title of Sun Conference Regular Season Champions last week.
 
The Gyrenes have accumulated a 27-22-1 record and 8-13 conference record and recently dropped the series to USCB after taking game one by a 9-8 score. Jose Gonzalez sits at the top of nearly every offensive category for the Gyrenes with a .389 average, .663 slugging percentage, 62 RBI's, 19 doubles, and nine home runs. On the mound, Cameron Horner leads the staff in innings with 67 innings and has accumulated a 4.48 ERA, 4-2 overall record and opponent batting average of .280.
 
The No. 1 ranked Fire has earned the top national ranking after ranking number one in most offensive and pitching categories including runs, hits, doubles, home runs, RBI's, extra base hits, batting average, on base percentage, and slugging percentage. The Fire pitching staff also ranks top nationally in ERA (2.65), shutouts (11), and opponent batting average (.226). Brian Fuentes ranks first in the nation in home runs with 16, second in the nation in RBI's at 65 and runs at 57 while his .433 average lands him second.
 
Robb Adams has proven himself one of the top arms in the NAIA as he ranks first nationally in wins (12), complete games (5), shutouts (4), innings (85), strikeouts (98), and ERA (.95).
