Softball Collects Record Breaking 14th Consecutive Win

LAKELAND, Fla.- After claiming the 9-1 run-rule victory in the series opener against Keiser University, the No. 18 ranked Southeastern University softball team broke their own winning streak with their 14th consecutive win, moving to 39-7 and 19-3 in Sun Conference play.

The Fire went ahead 2-0 in the first after Haleigh Harrell collected a one-run triple and came around to score on a throwing error a few pitches later.

In the second, the Fire added three more off a sacrifice fly into left field by Alex Hilton and a two-run single by Riley Sanders.

The Fire bats stayed hot in the fifth inning as Erica Stahl scored pinch runner Ellie Perez off a double to the left center gap. After two singles from Ashley Ellison and Hilton to move the score to 8-1, Stahl walked the game off with her third double of the day in the bottom of the sixth to secure game one.

Claire Sekinger moved to 17-2 on the season after allowing just one run on two hits and six strikeouts.

Stahl's three doubles and two RBI's led the way offensively as the Fire have now ended their last five contests in run rule fashion.

The Fire are back in action tomorrow at home to finish their series against Keiser at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
