LAKELAND, Fla.—A 3-for-4 day from
Jamie Mead helped the Fire finish off a three-game sweep of USCB with a 10-2 win in five innings. The 20
th ranked Fire have now won 11 in a row and are 18-3 in Sun Conference play.
Madison Williams drove in the first two runs of the game with a double to left field in the second then scored on a wild pitch. A two-run homer by Mead made it 5-0 two batters later.
The Sand Sharks picked up both of their runs on a two-run double in the top of the fifth to get within three.
Southeastern responded in the bottom half of the inning with a bases-loaded walk to
Riley Sanders to score
Ashley Ellison. Mead singled to center to bring in
Chapel Cunningham to make it 7-2 and another bases-loaded walk to
Haleigh Harrell scored Williams.
Erica Stahl's two-out, two-run double to left center ended the game by run rule.
Williams and Cunningham had two hits each.
Claire Sekinger improved to 15-2 on the season, working 4.1 innings and allowing two earned runs on one hit and three walks.
The Fire will host Florida National on Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
