Fire Sweep the SUN Series with Two More Wins over the Royals

LAKELAND, Fla.- The No. 20 ranked Southeastern University Fire completed a statement Sun Conference series sweep of the Warner University Royals today after taking game one by a score of 5-0 and game two 6-1.
 
The Fire allowed just one run in 21 innings of play against the Royals this weekend with game one of today's double header collecting the Fire pitching staff's 15th shutout of the season and second of the series.
 
On the mound in game one, Autumn Hunter tossed a two hit, eight strikeout complete game to advance to 11-3 on the season.
 
The Fire opened the scoring in the first after an RBI groundout by Jamie Mead scored Riley Sanders as the Fire lead was moved to two in the second after three consecutive two out hits by the Fire allowed Alex Hilton to score on a Sanders RBI single.
 
The Fire would go on to put up three more in the fifth starting with an error that allowed a run to cross. Katie Atkins then advanced her team leading RBI total with a sacrifice fly into center field. Erica Stahl then collected the fifth and final Fire run after scoring Haleigh Harrell on a groundout.
 
Sanders finished game one going 3-4 with two runs scored, and RBI, and four stolen bases.
 
With the 6-1 win in game two, the Fire advanced to 31-7 and 15-3 in SUN play.
 
The Royals grabbed their lone run of the series early in game three after an RBI single in the first and were able to hold the 1-0 edge until the fifth when the Fire took the 3-1 lead off of a perfectly executed squeeze play by Mead which allowed Chapel Cunningham from third. Harrell then continued the scoring with an infield single that scored Madison Williams. Another sacrifice fly by Atkins claimed the 3-1 lead for the Fire.
 
In the sixth, Sanders collected another RBI single to score Cunningham and Mead concluded the Fire scoring with an RBI single.
 
Mead concluded game two of the doubleheader going 3-4 with three RBI's.
 
Claire Sekinger collected her second win of the series in the series finale to move to 12-2 after allowing one run off of three hits.
 
The Fire will head to Jacksonville, Fla. on Tuesday for their next competition against Trinity Baptist in a doubleheader at 2 and 4 p.m.
