Women's Tennis Takes Down Spring Arbor

LAKELAND, Fla.- The No. 17 Southeastern University Fire women's tennis team defeated the Spring Arbor University Cougars 6-1 Tuesday afternoon to win their fourth-straight match and improve to 7-3 on the season.

The duo of Martina Picardi and Priscila Baptista made quick work of their opponents 6-2  at top line doubles. After dropping line three, the Fire won the doubles' point via a 6-2 win at line two by Neleah Neiberline and Irene Lopez.

Picardi took the top line of singles' play in straight sets to grow the Fire lead over the Cougars to 2-0.

Beatrice Letizia did not drop a single game at second line singles. Neiberline clinched the match for the Fire with a two-setter at line three that put SEU ahead 4-0.

Nadezda Bijelic and Lopez also each earned straight-set victories at lines four and five respectively.

The SEU women are back in action alongside the men's team versus the Aquinas College Saints on Thursday. Match time at the Beerman Family Tennis Complex is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
