BRUNSWICK, Fla.- The Southeastern University softball team dropped the Sun Conference series finale to the No. 10 College of Coastal Georgia by a score of 8-4 to drop the series 2-1 and fall to 25-7 and 9-3 in SUN play.
The Fire jumped ahead of the Mariners early after a base hit and error allowed a
Katie Atkins double to move the score to 2-0 in favor of the Fire in the first. The Mariners responded in the bottom half of the frame with four runs of their own off of a two RBI home run, an RBI fielder's choice, and an RBI single to take the 4-2 lead after an inning of play.
More Fire freebies allowed the score to move to 5-2 in the third after an error and a walk set up an RBI sacrifice fly situation which the Mariners successfully executed.
Jamie Mead brought the score within two with an RBI single that scored
Reagan Griffis in the fourth but the Mariners again capitalized on three walks, grabbing a three RBI double to secure the comfortable 8-3 lead.
