Howarth’s Big Game Gives Women’s Basketball 19th Straight Win

LAKE WALES, Fla.—The three-ball hadn't been falling lately for one of the best outside shooting teams in the NAIA.

Southeastern (23-1, 12-0 SUN) had it's best 3-point shooting game of 2022 during its 97-54 win at Warner on Thursday.

As a team, the Fire connected on 11-of-23 from long range to post a 47.8% success rate.

Haley Howarth was a big part of that success as she went a perfect 7-of-7 from 3-point land to finish with a game-high 26 points.

Leading 22-7 after the first, Southeastern started the second on an 11-3 run to build a 23-point advantage. From the 4:16 mark of the second to the 1:50 mark, the Fire connected on five straight 3-pointers to go up 50-22 with Howarth responsible for three of those. Gabby Suarez and Raegan Linster added triples as well.

Southeastern took a 52-25 lead to the locker room.

The third quarter saw the Fire cool off a bit, missing all four of their 3-point attempts, but Leilah Vigil went 3-for-4 from the field to score six of her 18 points in the quarter to help the Fire lead 71-37 with 10 minutes left.

Angela Perry added 11 points and seven rebounds to the winning effort. Linster finished with 10 points, two rebounds and two steals.

The Fire return home on Saturday to host Webber International at 5 p.m.
