ORLANDO, Fla.- The No. 24 Southeastern University Fire men's tennis team dropped a tightly contested 4-3 contest to the NCAA Division II Davenport University Panthers at the Lake Cane Tennis Center in Orlando on Monday afternoon.
After dropping the top two lines of doubles' action, the Fire found themselves at a 1-0 deficit to the Panthers.
Federico Barbon evened things up 1-1 with a victory in straight sets at line three singles.
The Panthers then responded with a two set win at line two and a three-set victory at line four to pull out to a 3-1 advantage.
Diego Menendez and
Roy Stepanov retaliated for Southeastern with their second-straight two set wins at lines five and one respectively to even the match at 3-3.
Ultimately, Davenport would clinch the match 4-3 with a two-set win at line six singles.
The Fire return to Sun Conference play this Saturday on the road against the Warner University Royals.
