LAKELAND, Fla.- The No. 24 Southeastern University Fire men's tennis team dropped its 2022 home opener to the No. 2 and 2021 NAIA National Runner-Up Keiser University Seahawks 7-0.
The Fire found themselves at an early 1-0 deficit after getting swept in doubles' play.
Keiser clinched the match with a two-set victory at line six, however, the Seahawks took all six singles' pairings in straight set.
Roy Stepanov battled NAIA No. 5 ranked singles' player Luke Simkiss in the first set at the top line, forcing a 6-6 tiebreaker that was won by Simkiss 7-5.
SEU looks to bounce back with another Sun Conference match at the Beerman Family Tennis Complex next Saturday. The Fire host the No. 18 St. Thomas University Bobcats in a 1:00 p.m. contest.
