ROME, Ga.- The RV Southeastern University Fire women's tennis team earned its second-straight win of the season with a convincing 7-2 win over the NCAA Division III Berry College Vikings Tuesday afternoon.
After dropping the top line of doubles' play, the Fire roared back with an 8-4 win at line three by
Neleah Neiberline and
Abigail Damon. SEU then secured a 2-1 lead heading into singles' action with a thrilling tiebreak victory at line two doubles when
Martina Picardi and
Priscila Baptista took the tiebreaker 8-6.
Neiberline took care of her opponent in straight sets without dropping a game at line three singles to grow the Southeastern advantage to 4-2.
Picardi cemented the match for the Fire at line two in straight sets (6-4, 6-4).
Irene Lopez (6-3, 6-4) and Baptista (7-5, 6-1) each were victorious in their singles' matches at lines four and five respectively.
The Fire round out the Georgia road trip tomorrow at the No. 15 Reinhardt University Eagles. Match time is set for 12:00 p.m.
