The Fire men's basketball team got a bounce back win at home against Webber International 87-69 on Thursday to improve their record to 4-5.
Riley Minix dominated in his return tonight putting up 19 points and 12 rebounds to go along with two blocks after missing his last four games due to injury.
"Having Riley on the court brings a lot of composure to our guys," said coach
Randy Lee. "Our guys feed off of him, his maturity level, and is able to space the floor and get others involved."
The Fire got great production from starters
Sean Shore who finished the night with 18 points and nine rebounds, as well as
Riley Matticks who finished with 11 points and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.
The Fire started the game by hitting seven 3-pointers in the first half. A major contributor was
Reggie Mesidor hitting four off the bench and took a 44-31 lead into halftime. Â
"We have not shot the ball particularly well to begin the season, and Reggie shot the ball well for us behind the arc and gave us a great spark off the bench," said Lee.
The Fire led the whole way and by as many as 21 with 6:34 left in the second half on a
Joshua Blazquez jumper.
Jalan Mull was also in double figures with 11 points and added a game-high eight assists and five steals. Â Â
Southeastern will look to continue their hot streak as it travels to Lake Wales to play the Warner Royals in a Sun Conference showdown Saturday at 4 p.m. Â
