BABSON PARK, Fla.—Despite a strong first set performance, the Southeastern University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 Sun Conference match at Webber International Wednesday night.

Southeastern won the first set 25-20, but dropped the next three 25-21, 29-27, and 25-22 to fall to 6-10 on the year and 2-3 in Sun Conference play.

The Fire fell behind early in the first set but used a 4-0 run to take a 5-4 advantage. A 5-0 run later in the set broke an 11-all tie with Emilia Harding recording three kills during the run. The lead grew to eight on another kill by Harding and an ace by Grace Petty to help SEU claim the first set. Southeastern hit .243 with 16 kills on 37 attempts in the first.

Webber International got its defense going at the net during the second set, recording three total blocks and holding the Fire to a .086 attacking percentage. In the third, the Fire came back from a three-point deficit and turned it into a 16-14 lead with another 5-0 run with Harding getting two more kills. The set was tied 12 times from that point on with the teams exchanging leads until the Warriors winning the last two points on an attack error and an ace.

Southeastern came out hot in the fourth, building an 11-4 lead but an 8-1 run tied up the set at 12. Three blocks in the set by Webber held the Fire offense to a .000 attacking percentage to come away with the win.

Harding finished with a match-high 15 kills and Sylvia Liszewski added 14. Ryanne VanWyk led the way with 21 assists.

On defense, Baylee Warneke had two solo blocks and assisted on two more. Holly Kaczmarek had a team-best 24 digs.
