LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern played its first women's soccer game in nearly three weeks and picked up its sixth win of the season in shutout fashion.

The defense held off an aggressive Georgia Gwinnett squad in the first half and got the offense going to come away with a 2-0 win to improve to 6-1-1 on the year.

A penalty kick goal by
Naira Lopez got the Fire on the board first in the 31
st minute of play. For Lopez, it was her team-leading seventh of the season. Despite being outshot 7-1 in the first half, the Fire led by a goal at the half.

Southeastern appeared to have picked up its second goal of the game off of a free kick early in the second half, but the goal was waived off for an offside. An own goal off a cross by
Ciara Boal with just over 5:00 to play did give Southeastern a 2-0 advantage.

The Fire upped the pressure in the second half, finishing the game with a 15-10 advantage in shots and a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal. SEU also generated seven corner kicks in the match.
