LAKELAND, Fla.- Southeastern is looking to bounce back this week on a road trip to Miami Gardens to face Sun Conference opponent Florida Memorial.
The Fire are coming off of a Homecoming 40-13 loss to Keiser University this past weekend. Fire played extremely well to start the contest leading at the half 14-10. Keiser used a 27-point fourth quarter, keyed by two Southeastern turnovers to pull away late.
Defensively, Ryan Cunningham led the game in tackles with 18 (11 solo, 7 assisted).
This season, Southeastern's offense averages 27.83 points per game averaging 4.6 yards per rushing attempt and 160.3 yards per game. Bryan Bell is the team's leading rusher with 325 yards on the year on 72 rushes, averaging 4.5 yards per carry.
Southeastern and Florida Memorial have met two times previously with the last game occurring earlier this season where the Fire came out on top with a close 27-13 victory. Their first contest came from the year prior during the 2021 season and the Fire were the winners of that game as well with a 28-7 victory.
Florida Memorial comes into this matchup 2-5 on the season with their wins coming from Edward Waters and Warner University. The Lions are averaging 18.43 points per game, on an average of 119 rushing yards per game and 198 passing yards per game.
Sophomore running back George Young is averaging 5.5 yards per carry this season with five rushing touchdowns. The last time he saw Southeastern earlier in the season he rushed for 150 yards on 23 attempts to average 6.5 yards per carry. On Defense, Christian Mable leads the way with 6.5 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss.
