Wrestling Hosts St. Andrews for Season Opening Dual

LAKELAND, Fla.—The third-ranked Fire wrestling team hosts St. Andrews Friday night for its first dual of the 2022-23 season.

The team's incredible depth was on display at last Thursday's Red vs. Black Dual with three matches featuring two wrestlers ranked in the Top 15.

Last year, SEU posted a 12-3 record in dual matches with all three losses coming against Top 15 teams at the time.

Today's match against St. Andrews is the fifth meeting all-time between the two programs with the Fire 4-0 against the Knights. The teams first met in 2015 during the first season of Fire wrestling with Southeastern coming away with a 29-25 win with current assistant coach Aris Knight coming away with a third period tech fall at 184 to help the Fire survive forfeits in the last two bouts. In the three matches since, the Fire have outscored SAU 124-18.

St. Andrews is under the direction of first-year head coach Marquise Camp and will be looking to build off a 3-5 record last season.

Tonight's match starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are available at seufire.com/tickets.
