MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The Southeastern Volleyball team continues to build on their momentum at the tail end of the season with their 3-1 victory over Florida Memorial. The Fire improved to 10-12 on the season and 6-5 within the Sun Conference.
The Fire came out hot not rescinding the lead within the first two sets. Southeastern blazed by the Lions in the first set 25-10 and took the second set 25-21.
In the third set, SEU found themselves trailing early down 12-5. The Fire rallied back to trail within three with a score of 22-19, but ultimately a couple crucial errors allowed the Lions to take the set 25-20.
The final set was the closest set of the afternoon that saw four lead changes with two of them coming after both teams reached 25 points. The Fire rallied being down five early and were not able to tie the lead until the score was 24-24. The kill by Emilia Harding allowed the Fire to tie it for the last time, and then errors on the Lion's behalf ultimately gave Southeastern a 28-26 set four victory.
Holly Kaczmarek had a game-high 23 digs which allowed her to earn the milestone of 1,000 career digs. Kaczmarek added two service aces and an assist.
Coach Audrey Goldsberry became the program's all-time leader in wins with 151 with the 3-1 victory over Florida Memorial this afternoon.
Other game leaders were Harding with 13 kills, Aly Postlethwaite with 22 assists, and Bailey Warneke with four blocks (2 solo, 2 assisted).
Southeastern will return to action Wednesday, October 26th at Coastal Georgia at 7 p.m. Eastern.
