KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Southeastern begins this season where it ended last season, ranked third in the NAIA Wrestling Coaches' Top 20.
The poll was released Thursday afternoon by the national office and was voted on by a panel of head coaches representing each qualifying group.
In addition to the team ranking, the Fire had 12 individuals ranked in their respective weight classes.
Leading the way is defending 285-pound national champion
Gage Braun opening the season ranked first in the class.
Southeastern has two ranked wrestlers in four different weight classes. At 125,
Isaac Crowell is third and
Esau Bazilme at 15
th. SEU also has a pair of ranked grapplers at 149 with
Andreus Bond third and
Kael Brisker 20
th.
Sal Silva checks in at sixth at 157 and
Trace Braun is 11
th.
Stephen Kelle checks in at fifth at 174 and
Douglas Peppers is 12
th.
Trillyon Fils-Aime is 10
th at 197 and
Wyatt Kirkham opens the season 12
th at 165. Isaac Lopez checks in at 18
th in the 133-pound ranking.
The Fire host their annual Red vs. Black Dual tonight at 7 p.m.
