Fire String Together Season-Best Night to Take Down Royals

LAKELAND, Fla.- The Southeastern University Fire added a game in the win column tonight with a 3-1 comeback victory over Warner University to move to 7-11 and 3-4 in SUN play.

The Fire came out sluggish in set one, hitting just .125 as a team. Trailing by four, the Fire went on a five-point run thanks to two Fire kills and three Royal errors to take the 12-11 lead. The remainder of the set would be a back-and-forth battle until a four-point run by the Royals concluded the 25-19 set one.

Refusing to roll over, the Fire answered back with an impressive .400 hitting percentage in set two to take the dominating 25-11 victory. Sylvia Liszewski concluded set two with four of her eight kills to aid in the victory.

Sets three and four would conclude with 25-18 scores with the Fire recording 15 kills in set three and 16 kills in set four to end the night with a .303 attack average, a season-best hitting percentage.

Kennedy Jones ended the night with 11 kills and a .370 hitting percentage while Emelia Harding would record eight kills of her own. Chapel Cunningham impressed at the service line and on defense, posting season highs in both categories with six aces and 11 digs. Liszewski would also end the night with a season-high, posting five total blocks.

The Fire will look to keep the momentum into another Sun Conference game as they take on Coastal Georgia on Friday at 5 p.m. in The Furnace.
