AVE MARIA, Fla. - The No.24 Southeastern University Men's Basketball team defeated the Ave Maria Gyrenes in a road conference contest 106-75 to improve to 17-3 on the season and 8-1 in conference play.
The Fire, similar to last week's contest, got off to a hot start going on a 10-0 run early to take a commanding 17-10 lead. The Fire led by as many as 20 points in the first half with under eight minutes remaining and continued to keep a comfortable lead heading into the half 55-41.
Southeastern came off the half shooting better from the field by increasing the shot percentage from 51% to 55% and holding the Gyrenes to 37% from there on. The Fire extended their lead significantly and led by as many as 35 with 2:38 remaining in the game.
As a team, Southeastern shot 53.5% from the field, 48.6% from behind the arc, and 70.6% from the free throw line.
Reggie Mesidor led the way with 22 points, shooting 62.5% from the field, 66% from the 3-point line, and added five steals with four assists. Riley Minix had a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds.
