LAKELAND, Fla. The No. 24 Southeastern University Men's Basketball team defeated the Florida College Falcons at the Furnace 89-79 to improve to 18-3 on the season.
The Fire got out to a hot start by making three, three-pointers within the first two minutes of play to go on a 11-2 run. Southeastern shot 45.7% from the field, 40.9% from beyond the arc, and led by as many as 24 with about two minutes remaining in the half.
SEU continued to shoot the ball well and extended their lead to 29 after five minutes of play within the second half. At 7:57 the Fire had a 33-point lead of 83-50. From then on the Falcons went on a 13-0 run to try to rally back into the game. Florida College (18-3) cut the deficit down to 16, but ultimately could not overcome the Fire's hot scoring from the start of the second half.
As a team, Southeastern shot 46.5% from the field, 40.4 from three-point land, and 50% from the free throw line.
Riley Minx led the way by recording a double-double with 24 points, 12 rebounds, and shooting 60% from the three-point line making six threes. Jordan Gorman added 17 points, five assists, and four steals.
