Fire Blaze by Seahawks in Sun Conference Match-Up

LAKELAND, Fla. - The Southeastern University Men's Basketball team set The Furnace ablaze after a dominant shooting performance to top the Keiser University Seahawks 89-57 to advance to 16-3 on the season and 7-1 within conference play.

The Fire got the hot hand early after going on a 14-4 run within the first six minutes of the contest. Leading the way for the Fire's dominant start was Jordan Gorman who seemingly could not miss beyond the arc as he shot 75% from the three-point line and added two free throws to score 20 points in 16 minutes. The Fire headed into the half leading the Seahawks 47-27.

The Fire led by 22 coming out of the half and the Seahawks were trying to gain some momentum after a made three-pointer. However Gorman responded by continuing to have the hot hand with a three-pointer of his own at the 18:10 mark to put the Fire back up 22 points. The Fire couldn't be extinguished and continued to go on a dominant run through the second half by leading by as much as 35 within the final two minutes.

Coach Lubbers was satisfied to see that one of the key elements of success tonight was unselfish play. Lubbers stated that he was pleased that,

"we were willing to make the extra pass… and ultimately ignore the stat sheet."

As a team the Fire had a total of 24 assists, shooting 65% from the field and 47.06% from behind the arc.

Gorman ended the night with 26 points in 26 minutes, shooting 66% from three-point land, netting eight total three-pointers. The graduate student also added three rebounds and two assists. Riley Minix also added 20 points, shooting 75% from the field, and five rebounds.

The Fire return to action next week Wednesday, at Ave Maria University at 8 P.M.
