LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.—The Fire cheerleading team took to the floor at HP Fieldhouse at ESPN's Wide World of Sports Complex for the UCA Cheer Nationals on Friday afternoon.
Competing in the Open All Girl Game Day Division, Southeastern was 12
th of 17 teams with a score of 78.8333 with no deductions. The top nine teams advanced to the finals with just 2.4 points separating the Fire from ninth-place Avila.
The division was stacked with various Division I programs such as overall champion Sacred Heart, Rhode Island, South Dakota State, and Loyola, as well as Division II programs Carson-Newman, St. Cloud State, and Mount Union. The Fire were one of just three NAIA programs competing.
The team will be back on the sidelines at home men's and women's basketball games the rest of the year.
