Women's Soccer Completes Come From Behind Victory Over No. 14 Lancers

Winona Lake, Fla.- The No. 6 ranked Southeastern University women's soccer team advanced to 3-1 on the season with their 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the No. 14 Grace College Lancers tonight.

The Lancers came out strong in the first quarter after taking a 1-0 lead less than four minutes into regulation after a long run down the right side line ended with a finish into the bottom right corner past a diving Fire goalkeeper. Despite outshooting the Lancers 5-4 for the remainder of the half, including three on goal, the Fire were unable to get the finish they needed to tie things up and would go into the locker room still down by one.

Despite the Lancers adding to their lead after netting another goal eight minutes out of halftime, the Fire brought the match back within one after Aisha Solorzano got a loose ball and managed to beat her defender in a one-on-one battle, finishing a shot into the bottom left corner of the net 11 minutes into the second half to bring the score to 2-1 in favor of the Lancers. Later with 21:32 still remaining, Shara Randez recorded her third goal of the season after Solorzano managed a behind-the-back cross to Randez at midfield who curved a shot around the defender and into the bottom left corner to even things up at two. The Fire defense held the Lancer shot less for the remainder of the match and came up with the eventual game winning goal with five minutes remaining when Chloe Martin got a shot off from a Solorzano free kick and poked it past the diving goalkeeper into the bottom right portion of the net to give the Fire the 3-2 victory.

Solorzano ended the match with a goal and two assists and Holly Eddins recorded two saves in goal.

The next competition for the Fire will come in the form of the receiving votes Middle Georgia State in Cochran, GA. on September 9th at 6 p.m.
