Southeastern to Host NAIA Baseball Opening Round at Chain of Lakes

KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The No. 2 Southeastern University baseball team will host one of the nine 2021 NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round Sites May 17-20, as announced by the NAIA national office Monday afternoon. The Fire will host the event at the Chain of Lakes Complex in Winter Haven, Fla. This will mark the first time ever the SEU baseball program has hosted an Opening Round.


"We are thankful for the opportunity that the NAIA has given us," shared SEU head coach Adrian Dinkel. "We are looking forward to hosting and representing the NAIA at the highest level."

The Fire finished the regular season 42-6, including 18-5 in Sun Conference play. Last Saturday at Ave Maria, SEU clinched its second-straight TSC Regular Season Championship and secured the top seed in the upcoming Sun Conference Tournament in West Palm Beach this Thursday-Sunday.


The Chain of Lakes Complex is a historic ballpark with a cherished tie to Major League Baseball. The complex was the longtime Spring Training home of the Boston Red Sox from 1966-1992 and for the Cleveland Indians from 1993 till 2008.

The field for the Winter Haven Bracket will be announced on the NAIA Baseball National Championship Selection Show on Thursday, May 13 at 5:00 p.m. eastern and can be viewed here.

The top-seeded Fire will take on the sixth-seeded USCB Sand Sharks this Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the first round of the TSC Tournament at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach.
