Stahl's Second Walk-Off Helps Softball Split with Coastal Georgia

LAKELAND, Fla. – After a walk-off single by Sophomore Erica Stahl to win 3-2 against Coastal Georgia, Southeastern lost the second to split a doubleheader, moving their record to 23-14 and 5-7 against Sun Conference opponents.
 
The Fire got ahead early in the first game, scoring two runs in the first inning on a two-out single by Lauren Watters. Watters finished the game 1-2 with two RBIs at the plate.
 
Southeastern led the way against the Mariners until the top of the 7th when Mary Waldron homered to center field, tying it up at 2-2.
 
The Fire answered back in the bottom of the 7th inning, loading the bases with no outs. Britt Robinson singled up the middle to start things off, then Sam Holcomb reached first on a throwing error, advancing Robinson. Madison Williams singled on a bunt, loading the bases.
 
Stahl then hit a walk-off single through the left side to score Robinson and end the match-up. She finished the game 2-4 with one RBI.
 
Williams was 2-3, Kaley Sarasty finished 1-3, Hannah Bonner was 1-3, and Britt Robinson went 2-3 at the plate.
 
Autumn Hunter completed the game with two earned runs, striking out five batters and advancing her record to 12-7 on the year.
 
In the second game, Coastal Georgia was first to get things moving, scoring one run in the first inning and another in the second. In the fourth, Katie Atkins homered to center field, scoring Stahl and herself to tie the ball game 2-2.
 
Atkins finished the game 2-3 at the plate with two RBI's.
 
The Mariners answered back in the fifth inning, scoring three more runs and advancing the score to 5-2.
 
Megan Froelich went three innings in the circle, walking three and striking out two before exiting the game after the 3rd inning.
 
The Fire are back at home on Saturday with another doubleheader against the University of South Carolina Beaufort at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
