LAKELAND, Fla.- The No. 21 Southeastern University men's tennis team looked primed for the postseason with a dominant 7-0 home victory over the SCAD-Savannah Bees Saturday afternoon to close out the regular season.
SEU set the tone in doubles' play, as seniors
Santiago Haas and
Felipe Barbosa blanked their opponents at line three 6-0. The pair of graduate students
Omar Fiorenzato and Alex D'aboville secured the doubles' point for the Fire with a 6-2 victory at line two, as Fiorenzato earned a service ace on the match point.
Senior
Theodor Preiswerk and sophomore
Enrique Martinez earned a 6-2 win at line three to make it an SEU sweep over SCAD in doubles' play.
Senior
Tyler Glowaki made quick work of his adversary at line six singles, winning in straight sets to put the Fire ahead of the Bees 2-0. Another two set victory by Barbosa at line five grew the Fire advantage to 3-0.
Martinez clinched the match for Southeastern with a two-set victory at line two.
D'aboville and Preiswerk earned two-set wins at lines four and three respectively.
Haas closed out the match with a tiebreaker victory at the top line, taking the extra session 10-7.
The SEU men are locked in as the No. 3 seed in The Sun Conference Tournament in Brunswick, Georgia. The Fire will take on second-seeded St. Thomas on Thursday April 29 with a match time to be announced.
