HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The No. 2 Southeastern University baseball team suffered its third Sun Conference loss of the season in their series finale with the USCB Sand Sharks in extra innings, losing by a score of 9-8 in ten innings.
USCB tallied one run in each the ninth and tenth innings to complete their comeback victory.
Southeastern got their offense going in the second, scoring six runs in the top of the inning.
Austin James got it started with his fourth home run of the season while an RBI-single and RBI-double by
Colton Onstott and
Sam Faith crossed two other runs. Onstott later came around to score on a wild pitch.
The Sand Sharks answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom half to tie it at 6-6.
Both teams tallied a run in the fourth inning to make it a 7-7 game.
Thomas Broyles hit an RBI-single that scored
Pedro Castellano to give the Fire their seventh run.
SEU took the lead in the sixth when
Nick Bottari scored on another wild pitch by USCB before the Sand Sharks scored the final two runs of the game.
Marc Soto completed 6.1 innings of work out of the bullpen, allowing just four hits, two runs with four walks and seven strikeouts.
The Fire (34-4, 12-3 TSC) are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Jacksonville to take on Edward Waters in a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm.
