Women's Basketball Advance to 12-1 with Win Against Tabor

LAKELAND, Fla.- The No.4 ranked Southeastern University women's basketball team advanced their overall record to 12-1 tonight with their 84-38 victory over the Tabor College Blue Jays.
 
The Fire defense allowed only four baskets for the Blue Jays through the entirety of the first period and registered 24 points of their own behind a 76.9 field goal percentage and a 4-5 effort from beyond the arc including two from Tahanee Bennell. In the second period, the Fire defense again shut down any Blue Jays offense, this time holding Tabor to only five points in 10 minutes. The Fire went 8-15 from the field in the second period with Raegan Linster leading the way with six points behind two field goals and two made free throws. Rebecca Cook registered three rebounds in the second quarter as the Fire went into the locker room with a 44-14 lead.
 
In the third period, Cook led the Fire with eight points and two more rebounds after going 3-4 from the field. The Fire ended the third with a 61.5 field goal percentage and a perfect 4-4 from the line. SEU rounded out the victory with 18 points in the second half with Jamya Rogers leading the way going 2-3 from the field.
 
Angela Perry ended as the Fire's leading scorer with 13 points and five rebounds with Cook and Linster each ending the night with 12 points of their own. Shae Routt tied Marta Aranda, Cook, and Perry with five rebounds.
 
The Fire will next participate in the SEU Christmas Invitational against the receiving votes Talladega College on December 16th at 7 p.m.
