Fire Football Hosts St. Andrews for Senior Night

LAKELAND, Fla.- The RV Southeastern University football team is looking to continue riding the hot streak the program has been riding as of late. The Fire have won three-straight, including two-wins over NAIA-ranked opponents, which marks the first time in program history SEU has recorded multiple wins over ranked teams in a single-season. SEU will attempt to keep trending upwards versus an offensively potent St. Andrew's University team on Senior Night.

FIRE FOCUS:
  • The Fire have firmly established their run game as of late, averaging 182.3 yards per game on the ground over their last three outings.
  • Southeastern graduate running back Lorine Parker ranks fifth in the NAIA this season in rushing attempts (171) and 14th in yards per game 105.1.
  • SEU redshirt senior wideout Myles Henderson has hauled in a touchdown in three-straight contests for the Fire.
  • Junior Fire wide receiver Wendell Harris Jr. needs just 57 receiving yards to eclipse 1,000-yard career mark and 71 yards to move up to third in the program's all-time ranks.
  • During the stretch of three consecutive Fire victories, the SEU defense is holding opponents to per-game average of just 218.3 total yards of offense, 112 passing yards, and 106.3 rushing yards.
  • Additionally, the Fire defense has recorded four interceptions over the last three games and has held opponents to a collective 34.8% (16-45) third down conversion success rate.
  • SEU junior defensive end Trenton Surloff is coming off being named Mid-South Sun Division Defensive Player of the Week after a three-sack effort against St. Thomas. Surloff now ranks third on the team in tackles for loss this season at 6.5 and second in sacks at 4.0.
  • Fire senior punter Jonah Paulsgrove hauled in Sun Division Special Teams player of the Week honors last week after punting nine times versus STU for an average of 41.7 yards per with two punts landing inside the opponent's 20 in a key field position game. Paulsgrove ranks fourth nationally in total punt yards at 2,061 and 13th at average yards per punt at 39.6.
All-TIME SERIES:
  • The Fire won the only previous meeting with St. Andrew's up in Laurinburg back on 9/1/2018 by a score of 38-21.
THE KNIGHTS:
  • St. Andrews has lost back-to-back contests after earning their first win of the season back on October 16, a 35-24 win at home over Kentucky Christian.
  • The Knights feature a prolific offensive attack, averaging just under 30 points per game, 405.6 yards of offense per game (30th, NAIA), and 218.6 rushing yards per contest, which ranks 12th in the nation.
  • In the backfield for SAU, the duo of sophomore D'vonte Allen and senior Trevor McNeil each average just over 11 carries per contest. Allen has had the most success for the Knights, averaging 6.4 yards per carry and tying sophomore quarterback Austin Wallace for the team lead in rushing touchdowns at four.
  • Senior wideout Kashard Collins has been the main downfield threat for the Knights this season, hauling in 39 receptions for 641 yards and eight touchdowns, which ranks him 17th in the NAIA and accounts for 57.1% of the SAU receiving touchdowns this season.
  • St. Andrew's has had its fair share of struggles defensively this season, surrendering the third most points per game in the NAIA at 51.1, fourth most yards per game at 476, and the second most passing yards per game at 297.6.
  • SAU junior linebacker Austin Hunt has been a bright spot for the St. Andrews' defense, ranking 16th in the country in total tackles at 80 and seventh in tackles per game at 11.4.
