Fire Volleyball Show Some Great Flashes of Play in Their Loss to STU

LAKELAND, Fla. - The Southeastern University volleyball team showed some flashes of great play in their 3-0 loss to the St. Thomas Bobcats. 

 

The Fire dropped the first set 25-15. In the second set, SEU struggled finding rhythm as they were trailing by as much as eight with the score being 20-12 with five errors. The Fire rallied going on a 7-0 run with impressive serves and an ace coming from Kennedy Jones to tie the game at 21. The Bobcats regrouped and regained momentum by going on a 4-1 run to take the set with two kills coming from Amanada Allende. 

 

In the final set, STU continued their momentum early, kept the lead, and the Fire found themselves in a 22-10 deficit. SEU showed some resilience and cut the lead with a 6-2 run but ultimately droped the set and the match to St. Thomas University. 

 

Sandy Cao led the team in kills with 10 kills, and added an assist, and nine digs. Holly Kaczmarek led the team in digs with 12, and Alexandra Postlethwaite led the team in assists with 17 and added two digs and two kills. 

 

Southeastern looks to bounce back as they prepare to face Warner University in Lake Wales, Fla. on Wednesday, October 13th at 7 P.M.
