The Southeastern University football team is looking to make a comeback after a tough 63-14 loss last weekend in Kentucky against the University of Cumberlands. The Fire face the Webber International Warriors in Babson Park, Florida at Warrior Turf Field Saturday at 1:30 p.m..
The Warriors are currently 0-3 on the season losing by a large margin against defending National Champions Lindsey Wilson College (58-7), University of Pikeville (59-0) and losing a closer match against current #8 Georgetown College (31-21). Trent Peacock leads the Webber defense in tackles (12) and offensively, Kristofer Sippe averages 155 passing yards per game and Tremon Bright averages 64 rushing yards per game.
The Fire are currently 2-2 on the season with a forfeit win against the University of Fort Lauderdale, a home victory versus Thomas More University, a 31-14 loss against Faulkner University, and the loss last week. Defensively,
Khalid Scott leads the Fire with 20 tackles, followed closely behind with 16 from
Marc Viechec and 12 from
Aaron Walton on the season. On the other side of the ball,
Lorine Parker leads Southeastern in average rushing yards per game (92.33),
Cooper Jones averages 202 passing yards each match, and
Myles Henderson averages 63.33 receiving yards per game.
The Fire have won six of the last seven matches against the Warriors and are on a six-win win streak. In their last matchup, the Fire won 21-7 with their outstanding defensive play. Southeastern held Webber to only 36 rushing yards and 37 passing yards the entire game. The lone victory in the series for Webber was in 2014 during SEU's inaugural season which gave the Warriors their first Sun Conference championship in football.
