MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.- The No. 10 ranked Southeastern University women's soccer team advanced their season records to 8-3 and 2-2 in Sun Conference play with their 3-1 victory over the St. Thomas Bobcats tonight in the TSC Match of the Week.
The Fire jumped on a quick lead when
Ramsey Watkins netted her third goal of the season off of a corner kick by
Shara Randez. A beautifully placed ball in the box by Randez gave Watkins the opportunity to get a head on the ball and finish a header into the top right corner for the 1-0 lead in the ninth minute.
The Bobcat defense managed to silence the Fire for the remainder of the first half as the teams went into the locker room with a one goal differential. The Fire once again grabbed momentum early advancing their lead to two in the 48
th minute when
Aisha Solorzano took a shot from about 20 yards out and placed it into the top left corner. The senior then netted her ninth goal of the season and second of the match in the 64
th minute to give the Fire a 3-1 lead and the eventual victory.
SEU outshot the Bobcats with 16 shots including nine on goal.
