LAKELAND, Fla.—A week after picking up a 38-9 win at Brewton-Parker, the Southeastern University wrestling program finished its regular season slate at home with a dual against St. Andrews University for senior day.
The Fire started strong, scoring first in each of the first eight matches and didn't allow a takedown until the ninth match of the dual and ended allowing only five total takedowns.
Xavier Williamson needed just 21 seconds to record a pin against Bryant Santiago at 133, with
Stephen Kelle also recording a pin at 174. Max Kauffman,
Cody Walsh, and
Kohl Drake all recorded technical falls at 141, 165, and 184, respectively.
Isaac Crowell (125) and
Andreus Bond (149) each recorded major decisions to pick up wins against the Barons.
Before the match the Fire will honor the following seniors at 10:45: Williamson,
Kyle Kirkham,
Carlos Diaz, Kelle,
Tyler Person,
Elian Martinez,
Jesse Pryor, and
Alton Meeks.
St. Andrews heads to Lakeland with a 4-7 record with two of their wins coming against MSC members Keiser and St. Thomas. Junior Joshua Soliz (149) had a nice outing for the Knights their last time out at their Conference Duals. Soliz finished with a 4-1 record at the duals, picking up wins by both technical fall and major decision.
SEU is 3-0 all-time against the Knights and won 37-9 the last time these programs met in 2018. Kirkham is the lone current wrestler who faced the Knights three years ago when he won 4-2 over Noah Walker at 149.
