LAKELAND, Fla.—The Southeastern University volleyball team couldn't capitalize on a fast start, and took the loss against the St. Thomas Bobcats to fall to 1-2 overall on the season and in Sun Conference play.
The Fire stormed out to a 11-1 lead in the first set thanks to six errors committed by the Bobcats. Senior
Lindsey Davis chipped in with two aces and would finish the match with seven kills, seven digs, and led the team with three aces. Southeastern stretched the lead to 21-9 before St. Thomas went on a 16-2 run to take the first set.
Southeastern couldn't quite complete the comeback in the second set after trailing 16-9. The Fire were able to trim the deficit to just one at 20-19 before St. Thomas finished with a 5-1 run.
Maggie Seagren lifted the Fire in the second set with three kills and finished with a triple-double of 15 digs, 13 assists, and ten kills.
The Fire started and finished the third strong as they took the set 25-15.
Emily Boehlein led the charge with three kills to give Southeastern a 15-8 advantage. She would add two more kills in the remainder of the third and finished with a team-high 13 kills and added six digs.
Southeastern fought their way to a 15-13 edge to open the fourth set as Boehlein and Seagren continued to find success. With the score at 20-19, St. Thomas closed the match on a 6-1 run to seal the victory.

Fabianne Besosa finished with a team-high 28 digs and sophomore setter
Emily Eurice led the Fire with 19 assists.
