LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern went 1-1 during the Fire Duals, its first two dual matches of the 2020-21 season.
To start, SEU dropped a 24-19 decision to No. 3 Reinhardt and finished with a 49-6 win over Keiser.
With the Fire down 19-10,
Blake Rypel scored a second period fall to get the Fire within three with two matches left. A technical fall win by Antonio Stewart in the following bout secured the match for the Eagles.
SEU got a bonus point win from
Andreus Bond at 149, and decisions by
Isaac Crowell at 125,
Coleman Bryant at 174, and
Alton Meeks at 285.
During exhibition matches following the dual, fifth-year senior
Eddie Barrett earned a first period fall over No. 4 Koby Milner.
Against Keiser, the Fire got off to a fast start thanks to forfeits at the first three weights, then got technical falls from
Adrian Ayala and
Ethan Gustilo.
Cody Walsh picked up an 8-2 decision at 165, and the Fire closed the day with a pair of first period falls by
Kohl Drake at 184 and Meeks at 285.
Caleb Hardeman won by forfeit at 197.
The Fire return to action on December 5
th to host Keiser and St. Thomas.
