Men's Soccer Set to Compete in Conference Semifinal Match

Miami Gardens, Fla.- The Southeastern University men's soccer team will compete in the Sun Conference Semifinals in Miami Gardens against the St. Thomas University Bobcats on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
 
The Fire advanced to the semifinals after a 3-0 victory over the Ave Maria Gyrenes on Saturday in the quarterfinal matchup. Currently 10-5 (5-5 TSC) on the season, the Fire are outscoring their opponents 35-20 and average 2.33 goals per game. Julian Hall has captained the Fire offense with seven goals and three assists while Colin Horn comes in at second for the Fire with four goals of his own. The Fire also has six players with three goals each. On the defensive front, Carlos Curado and Jonathan Wojicki have been a dynamic duo registering 58 saves collectively with Curado being responsible for 36. Together they have allowed only 20 goals while facing 176 shots. Curado currently holds a record of 5-4 with a save percentage of .766 while Wojicki holds an undefeated record of 5-0 with a .720 save percentage.
 
The Bobcats are 9-3 on the season with a conference record of 8-2 and have outscored their competition 33 to 14 and currently average 15 shots per game and 12 assists. Fernando Arenzo has led the Bobcat offense with eight goals and an assist in nine games played.
 
These two teams have met twice already this season with the Bobcats coming out with the victory both times by a score of 2-1 and 2-0. The Fire have yet to defeat the Bobcats on their home pitch in Miami Gardens and have been shutout in three of their five meetings.
 
With a win, the Fire will advance to the Sun Conference Tournament Finals on Friday.
