Hey friends, family, supporters and the SEU family,
It's Taylah Simmons and Eliza West here, the two Australians on the women's basketball team!
We are reaching out to you to help raise awareness and money for the country we call home.
Some of you may already be aware that Australia is currently in the midst of the worst bushfires recorded in Australian history, heavily impacting the states of New South Wales, South Australia, and Victoria, in which both of us were born and raised.
To give some perspective, these fires are 10 times larger than the 2018 California fires.
It is devastating to hear the impact it is having on the country… in just a couple months the fires have killed over 1 billion animals, burnt over 20 million acres of land, destroyed more than 2000 homes, and countless people have been recorded missing, along 27+ that have been killed.
We have been inspired by generous people donating and fundraising to help. So we have decided to take our part in helping Australia in this desperate time of need, and need your help too.
Our two upcoming home games (January 23rd and 25th) will be dedicated to the Australian bushfires by raising awareness and money- in which all proceeds will be donated to:
-Wildlife Victoria to help the suffering animals.
-Victoria CFA to help the volunteer firefighters & their families.

For example...
-Taylah will donate $2 per point she gets and $2 per steal the team gets.
-Eliza will donate $5 per assist she gets and the ending point margin.

-Saturday 25th Jan, 2 p.m.
