Fire Dominate Night Hawks on the Road

THOMASVILLE, Ga.—The No. 4 Southeastern University women's soccer team went on the road to earn a 6-0 victory over the Thomas Night Hawks.

The Fire used a flurry of goals with under six minutes left in the first half to give them a comfortable advantage.

The match was scoreless until the 24th minute when senior Bania Duran finished a through ball from freshman Rachel Boyd. The scoring continued for the Fire 14 minutes later when senior Siobhan Longmore connected on a shot from just outside the box, firing the ball over the goalkeeper into the top right corner of the net.

Southeastern scored two goals in a span of 1:52 at the end of the first half. Duran found the back of the net for the second time of the match, finishing an assist from senior Isamar Duran in the 41st minute. Moments later, Isamar Duran assisted another goal, this time to senior Uchenna Kanu.

The Fire wasted no time in getting on the board again in the second half as senior Rachel Wallace finished an assist from Kanu, striking the ball into the top left corner of the net just 47 seconds into the half.

Uchenna Kanu tallied another goal six minutes later, finishing another Rachel Boyd assist.

After today's match Kanu now has 27 goals on the year and Bania Duran has used four goals in the past two games to push her season total to 14.

Goalkeeper Holly Eddins saved two shots in 78 minutes of action while Madeline Miller came in to finish the shutout.

The Fire are on the road again on Friday October 25th when they travel to play St. Thomas at 4 p.m.
