The Southeastern University women's soccer team came out hungry against the Middle Georgia State University Knights, and they were rewarded with their second shutout of the season, scoring a staggering nine goals.
Much of the game was spent on the Knight's end of the field, as MGSU struggled to hold off the onslaught of Fire players. Forward
Uchenna Kanu struck early, scoring two of her four goals in the first two minutes of playing time, the first time unassisted (1:28), and the second time assisted by
Yulie Lopez (1:48). Lopez also had her own goal, assisted by Kanu (13:32), which brought her season goals up to two. The remaining four goals were shared among
Aisha Solorzano,
Summer Rusher,
Lynsey Kelly and and
Gabriella DiDio, each with one goal to their name.
The Fire offense was so relentless in their in their attack, with 24 shots on goal, the defense was rarely in danger of being penetrated. The Knights only managed five shots, none of them yielding fruit. Goalkeeper
Maddy Miller had one save to keep the Knights from scoring anything.
The game was called early in the 72nd minute due to lightning.
With two wins and no losses, the Fire will host Point University on August 25th at 11:00 a.m.
