Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – On a night where a dynamic performance on the mound by junior lefty
Jonathan Bermudez propelled the Fire, the No. 4 Southeastern University baseball team defeated the RV Judson University Eagles 5-1 to take the first game of a three-game series.
"It was just one of those days where you have everything going," shared Bermudez. "My fastball was good, and then my slider and my change-up were working. I was feeling really good on the mound."
All in all, Bermudez tossed eight innings, allowed four hits, surrendered one run on a solo home run, walked none, and struck out every member of the Judson lineup at least once in one of the all-time gems in SEU baseball history.

Southeastern took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a bases-loaded wild pitch that allowed junior first baseman
Nick Bottari to cross the plate.
The Eagles evened things up in the top of the seventh on a solo homer by David Matthews that cleared the right field fence.
The Fire quickly answered in the bottom half of the frame, ushering across four runs on three hits and an error. An RBI single by junior infielder
Dominic Anagnos scored
Vince Volpatti and gave SEU the go-ahead run 2-1.
A Judson fielding error allowed senior utility man
Kainalu Pitoy to get aboard and Anagnos to cross home. Junior outfielder
Marvin Malone smashed his eighth double of the season later in the inning that drove home Pitoy and
Manuel Mesa and put the Fire up 5-1.
Senior righty
Adrian Rivera struck out the side in the top of the ninth to close out the Eagles and secure the SEU win.
The Fire take on the Eagles in doubleheader action tomorrow at Ted A. Broer Stadium. Game times are set for 12:00 and 3:00 p.m.
