LAKELAND, Fla.—For the second time in as many home duals, the Fire will host a Top 15 program.
The Fire scored a 27-12 win over Campbellsville on November 16
th, and picked up four dual meet wins over NCAA Division II competition last time out on December 3
rd.
Lindsey Wilson enters its first Mid-South Conference dual with a 3-2 record, most recently knocking off NCAA Division II Bellarmine 27-12. Three of the first five wrestlers on the mat for the Blue Raiders won bonus points to get off to an 18-6 advantage. No. 20 Avery Buckman's second period pin at 197 sealed the match.
At nationals last year, Lindsey Wilson finished fifth with five All-Americans. In the projected lineup, as many as six ranked wrestlers could be on the mat.
Some of the top projected match-ups are at 141, 157, 184, and 197.
Southeastern's highest-ranked individual,
Ethan Owen at 141 is scheduled to face No. 10 Trent Johnson. Owen is ranked fifth in the latest individual rankings.
Dylan Chatterton is ranked 10
th at 157, and Derrick Smallwood of Lindsey Wilson is ninth, but both have wrestled up at 165 before.
At 184, 13
th-ranked
Jason Davis could face No. 8 Lucas Miozza. The 197-pound match tentatively has No. 13
Jesse Pryor facing Buckman.
Other ranked wrestlers scheduled to appear include SEU's
Jake Watters (#12 at 149) and
Jaaziel Santana (#20 at 125) and Lindsey Wilson's Brady Moser (#12 at 133), Cagen Wallace (#9 at 125) and Brandon Reed (#1 at 285).
Action begins Saturday at noon.
