LAKE WALES, Fla. – In front of a raucous road crowd, the No. 2 Southeastern University women's soccer team overcame adversity to defeat the Warner University Royals 1-0 for their sixth straight shutout victory and improved to 15-1-1 in the season.
The game-winner for SEU came in the 12
th minute off the foot of a familiar name, junior forward
Uchenna Kanu. Kanu rocketed a free kick from 25 yards out, off of the gloves of the Warner keeper into the back of the net.
The goal was the Abia, Nigeria native's 41
st of the season and 99
th of her collegiate career.
Southeastern dominated possession in the first half, out-shooting Warner 10-0.
The Royals created chances in the second half, however the Fire back line stood firm. Freshman goalkeeper
Holly Eddins recorded all four of her saves in the second half to notch her sixth full-90 shutout of the season.
Despite earning three corner kicks in the final four minutes of play in the second half, the Fire were unable to finish another chance in the match.
"We definitely left a lot of chances out there but I'm proud of these girls for grinding out this result in a tough match on the road with the support of a strong home crowd," shared head coach

The Fire conclude the regular season on the road this Saturday versus Ave Maria. Match time is set for 11:00 a.m.
