AVE MARIA, Fla.—
Uchenna Kanu wasted no time scoring her historic 100
th goal.
Early in the third minute of play, the junior finished off a pass from
Yulie Lopez for the 100
th tally of her career in her 50
th game played, helping the Fire beat Ave Maria 11-0.
The records and history didn't end there, as she finished the day with five goals, the last being her 46
th of the season to break her own single-season record set last year. It also brings her within two goals of breaking the NAIA women's soccer single season record.
It was her second five-goal game of the season, and her 13 points on the day was the most in a game of her career.
Kanu had her hat trick with 23:15 remaining in the first half, adding goals in the 21
st and 22
nd minutes.
Gabriella DiDio and
Aisha Solorzano were credited with the assists.
Solorzano finished the day with six points, also assisting on
Summer Rusher's goal in the 55
th minute, and scoring herself in the 59
th and 72
nd minutes.
DiDio added a goal in the 38
th minute to put SEU up 4-0 at the intermission.
In the second half, Kanu scored in the 67
th and 85
th minutes.
Isabel Madson found the back of the net in the 79
th minute, and
Isamar Duran cleaned up a deflected ball off a corner kick just before time ran out.
Maddy Miller needed to make just one save to earn her third win of the season. Southeastern outshot Ave Maria 17-1, holding the Gyrenes to just four total attempts.
The Fire conclude the regular season at 16-1-1, and will receive a first-round bye in The Sun Conference Tournament. SEU will host a semifinal match on November 6
th.
