Box Score WEST POINT Ga. – It was a successful opening weekend for the Southeastern University women's soccer team. The Fire capped off their participation in the Jenna Paige Bragg Memorial Women's Soccer Classic with a 5-2 win over the Truett McConnell University Bears.

The Fire grew their lead in the 27
th minute when sophomore midfielder
Bania Duran headed a ball in the box to Fuentes, who volleyed it over the keeper's head into the back of the net.
Southeastern took a 2-0 advantage into the half.

Konya Plummer netted her first goal of 2017 in the 52
nd minute, with Duran earning her second helper of the night.
A barrage of scoring occurred in the 58
th minute, as three goals were scored in 35 seconds of play.
First, Fuentes notched her second goal of the night off the connected pass from Kanu to put the Fire up 4-0. Fuentes finished the night with five points and her first multi-goal game as a member of the Fire.
"As a team, we tried to apply what coach asked us to do, in touching the ball around and finding space to play," shared Fuentes.
Following the Fuentes strike, the Bears put one through for their first score of the night to cut the deficit to 4-1.
Kanu had the last word of the flurry, executing a well-placed ball from junior forward
Shayna Cole to grow the SEU lead to 5-1.
The Abia, Nigeria native finished the weekend with 13 points, scoring five goals and contributing three assists through the first two games of the season. Kanu leads the NAIA in points through the first week of the regular season.
"It was a pretty solid performance for our team today in terms of walking through the lines and creating a lot of chances," commented Head Coach
Randy Belli.
The Bears converted a late scoring opportunity in the 81
st minute to cut the SEU lead to 5-2.
The Fire head back to Georgia for a NAIA Top 20 showdown at No. 12 Reinhardt on Wednesday night. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
