WEST POINT, Ga.--The Fire baseball team will open up their season with a road trip to West Point, Ga., where they will play Point University and Johnson University.
The first game of the year is scheduled for tomorrow, January 27
th at 6pm versus the Point University Skyhawks. Last season, the Skyhawks recorded 34 wins and advanced to the NAIA World Series after winning their opening round bracket. They finished their season by winning eight of their last 12 games, a stretch where they faced nine ranked opponents.
To kick off the second day of competition, the Fire will face Johnson University. First pitch is set at 11am on Saturday. The Johnson University Royals started their 2016 season with a 10-4 record before a mid-season 11 game losing skid. They ended the year at 16-22, going 5-5 in Mid-East Region play.
Southeastern will wrap up their opening weekend by facing Point again at 5pm on Saturday.
