Volleyball Records First Sweep of Season

KISSIMMEE, Fla.—Six of Southeastern's first seven volleyball matches of the season had gone to four sets.
 
In the eighth game of the year, the Fire won in straight sets, knocking off Johnson University (Fla.) 25-11, 25-8, 25-13 to move to 5-3.
 
The Fire offense was clicking on all cylinders, recording a .471 team attacking percentage and totaled 39 kills on 70 attacks.
 
Senior Lydia Rooth got the Fire off to a solid start, recording five kills during a 7-1 run in the first set. Rooth finished the night with 12 kills, a .500 hitting percentage, and a team high six digs.
 
Kelsey Morton was also in double figures in kills, recording 10 on 12 attacks for a .833 attacking percentage. The junior scored five of SEU's first 13 points in the second set.
 
Lindsey Fleming had a match best 20 assists, with sophomore Hannah Kinlaw chipping in 12.
 
The Fire will face their first Sun Conference test of the season on Saturday, hosting St. Thomas at 2 p.m.
