FORT MYERS, Fla.—The Fire baseball team moved to 1-1 in The Sun Conference Tournament with a loss to the No. 4 seed Keiser 14-7.
Southeastern (35-20) took a 2-0 lead in the first on an RBI triple by
Angel Garced and a RBI double by
Derek Martin.
Starting pitcher
Jordan Gard stranded five base runners in the first two innings before the Seahawks got a two-out RBI single in the third, then took a 5-2 lead in the fourth. Keiser added two more in the fifth and four in the seventh to take an 11-2 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh,
Luis Diaz hit a three-run homer with two outs, and in the eighth, on an RBI single by Martin.
The Seahawks totaled 16 hits off of five different SEU pitchers.
Martin finished the game with a 3-for-4 effort and two RBIs. Garced was 2-for-4 with three runs scored.
The Fire now face top seed USC Beaufort in an elimination game Sunday at 11 a.m.
