FORT MYERS, Fla.—The stay in The Sun Conference Tournament for the Southeastern baseball team came to a close with a 7-4 loss top-seeded USCB 7-4.
Looking for a second upset win in the tournament, the Fire took a 3-2 lead in the top of the third, highlighted by a two-run home run by
Chris Mattison.
Diego Perez also picked up an RBI single, scoring
Marcus Guzman, who led off the inning with a single up the middle.
The Sand Sharks regained the lead in the bottom of the inning on an RBI double and RBI single. Southeastern tied the game in the fourth on a two-out RBI single by Guzman.
Southeastern managed just one more hit the rest of the afternoon.
USCB added a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the fifth, and two more in the seventh to pull away.
Perez and Guzman combined for four of SEU's seven hits with two each.
