MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.—The Southeastern baseball team totaled 16 runs on 14 hits in a 16-9 win at Florida Memorial to open up a three-game conference series.
As a team, the Fire recorded three doubles, a triple, and two home runs.
After trailing 4-0 after the first inning, the Fire scraped across a run in the second, then scored four in the third and four more in the fourth to take control of the game.
In the third, the Fire got a 3-run home run from
Josiel Colon, and an RBI single by
Luis Diaz.
Three errors turned into four runs in the fourth.
Mike D'Acunti drove in two on a double to right field.
A two-run homer by
Angel Garced in the fifth highlighted a 3-run inning that helped SEU take a 12-5 lead.
Senior
Jordan Gard earned the win, allowing four earned runs on six hits with four strikeouts in five innings.
D'Acunti finished the game 3-for-5 with four RBIs. Colon was 2-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBIs. Guzman was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, and two runs scored.
The two teams meet again Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
