MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.—The Southeastern baseball team completed a three-game Sun Conference series sweep of Florida Memorial with 14-3 and 11-0 wins in seven innings each.
The Fire scored 14 runs on 15 hits in the first game of the day with leadoff man
Diego Perez leading the way with a 3-for-5 effort with three runs scored.
In the first inning, Perez scored on a two-out double by
Derek Martin, then scored himself on
Mike D'Acunti's 11
th home run of the year which gave the Fire a 3-0 lead after a half inning.
Leading 4-2, the Fire scored eight runs in the top of the fifth with the first eight batters of the inning all reaching safely. A two-run single by D'Acunti and a two-run single by
Luis Diaz accounted for half of the runs.
Sean Anderson drove in two more with a double to right-center, who scored on a single by
Marcus Guzman.
Brandon Goff went the distance to earn his fourth win of the season. He allowed three earned on nine hits with eight strikeouts.
Nate Harmon was excellent on the mound in the second game, earning a complete game shutout victory to improve to 3-1 on the year. The junior gave up just two hits and a walk in seven innings, recording 10 strikeouts.
Martin led the offense with two hits and two RBIs, driving in Perez and
Angel Garced in the top of the second, as part of a seven-run inning. A bases-loaded double by Perez scored all three baserunners.
The Fire return to action on Monday in a non-conference road game against Trinity Baptist at 6 p.m.
